SALT Part 3: The Illusion of Perfection: Mya's Encounter with Mike

In a world full of games, where charm's the king,

Mya's heart races as Mike starts to sing.

His smooth lines, they don't mean a thing,

But she's street smart, won't fall for his fling.

In the love game's hustle, where moves are slick,

Mya stays true, won't fall for the trick.

With her head held high, she's ready to pick,

In love's urban jungle, she's the real click.

Through life's concrete jungle, she finds her way,

Standing strong, come what may.

Mya sees through the game they play,

In love's raw streets, she's here to stay.

Mya's heart raced as she held her phone to her ear, the familiar sound of his voice sending a flutter of excitement through her veins. They had stayed in touch after the day party and had been vibing for a while now, but there was something about the way he showered her with compliments that left her feeling uneasy.

"Hey," Mike said, his voice smooth and confident. "I'm glad we got a chance to talk."

Mya forced a smile, her stomach churning with conflicting emotions. "Yeah, me too."

As they continued to chat, Mya couldn't shake the feeling of discomfort that settled in the pit of her stomach. Every compliment he gave her made her feel like a piece of meat, objectified and devalued. It was a harsh reality she had faced many times before - most guys she dealt with had similar tendencies, often displaying narcissistic behavior.

She glanced at herself in the mirror, reminded of the societal expectations placed upon women like her. In order to navigate these interactions, she had to accept her role and "govern herself accordingly," adopting a demeanor that mirrored the expectations placed upon her.

"Listen," she began, her voice steady despite the turmoil within. "I appreciate the compliments, I really do. But sometimes it makes me feel... uncomfortable."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, and Mya held her breath, anxiously awaiting his response.

"I'm sorry if I made you feel that way," he said, his tone smooth but lacking genuine remorse. "But you know you're irresistible, right?"

Mya's discomfort grew, but she couldn't ignore the flattery completely. "I don't know about that."

Mike paused for a moment, his mind calculating the best approach. "Mya, you're not like anyone else I've met. There's a spark between us that's undeniable. I can't help but be drawn to you, even though I have a girlfriend."

Mya's heart skipped a beat at his words, torn between her desire for validation and her sense of self-worth. "I don't know if I'm comfortable with that."

After a calculated pause, Mike continued, his voice oozing with charm. "I understand, Mya. But imagine the excitement, the thrill of being with someone who sees you for who you truly are. Let's meet up and see where this connection takes us."

After more back and forth, Mya hesitated, her guard up. "I'll think about it."

As they tentatively finalized plans, Mya couldn't shake the nagging feeling in the back of her mind. She knew she had to tread carefully with someone like Mike, but the allure of his charm made it hard to resist.
